Nusa Dua, CNBC Indonesia - State-owned lender PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk (BBNI) seized the momentum of International Monetary Fund-World Bank (IMF-WB) Annual Meetings in Nusa Dua, Bali, to promote its latest digital banking features.

BNI brought out its application-based payment system called yap! (Your All Payment) to thousands of delegates attending the meetings.

yap! enables customers to do transactions using QR code which will transfer payments from their debit card, credit card, or BNI's server-based electronic money named UnikQu to settle all transactions carried out at the meetings' the venue. It is also linked to other domestic e-wallet applications.

"We deliver transaction convenience to IMF-WB Annual Meetings delegates, especially from Indonesia, through QR code that linked yap! application with other domestic e-wallet applications, as long as they work with QR code installed at yap! merchants in Nusa Dua, Bali," said BNI corporate secretary Kiryanto in a statement Tuesday (9/10/2018).

Such a connection, Kiryanto said, was a form of the lender's transformation to be a digital bank with digitalized national and international payments. It was also an effort to boost cashless and less-card society in the country.

BNI also provided virtual account debit cards to delegates from 189 countries for transactions during the meetings. One checking account will be able to generate multiply virtual accounts linked to the debit card.

Kiryanto said the cardholders could manage and kept track of their transactions under each virtual account using an application called BNI Virtual Account Assistant (BNIVast).

Customers could use their virtual account debit cards for transactions on BNI and other lenders' Electronic Data Captures (EDC) and ATMs, he said.

BNI had procured the similar cards for all athletes during the Asian Games 2018 Jakarta-Palembang, and the lender considered it a successful effort.

"After being tested in a world-class event like Asian Games 2018, BNI now provides the same product for the IMF-WB Annual Meetings 2018 delegates," Kiryanto said in a statement on Monday (8/10/2018).

He added that the virtual account debit card holders would receive Balinese fabrics as a special gift, as well as cashback promotion at numbers of merchants such as Krisna, Prada, and Kimia Farma for credit card holders.
