UK's Interest in Funding RI's Green Satellite Procurement

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Minister of Communications and Informatics, Johnny G Plate, and The Minister of Technology and Digital Economy of the United Kingdom, Damian Noel Thomas Collins, discussed the continuation of cooperation in Indonesia's satellite procurement (SATRIA 2).
According to Johnny, the UK government is committed to providing financial support for the green satellite procurement with a capacity of 300 gigabytes per second (Gbps).
"Hopefully, in the not-too-distant future, we can follow up (financing support for the SATRTA 2 satellite) at the working level, with the technical teams," Johnny said as quoted from his statement, Thursday (1/9/2022).
He explained that the discussion with the Minister of Technology and Digital Economy of the United Kingdom also discussed bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and the UK, especially in upstream digital infrastructure.
Meanwhile, related to DEWG G20, the bilateral meeting conducted discussions and support from the UK delegation during the meeting series at DEWG G20.
He appreciated the UK delegation's support for the three priority issues promoted by Indonesia in the DEWG G20, namely connectivity and post-covid-19 recovery, digital skills and digital literacy, and free flow of data with trust and cross-border data flow.
"On behalf of Indonesia, I would like to thank the British delegation for their support as of last night an agreement can be reached on the three priority issues of DEWG, with the principles of data management that were agreed last night," he said.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Technology and Digital Economy of the United Kingdom, Damian Noel Thomas Collins, appreciated Indonesia's leadership. In that case, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics and the chairman of DEWG will carried out the priority issues because they are fundamental to the interests of the world in the future.
"Hence, we would like to thank the Minister of Communication and Informatics, Johnny G Plate, for successfully organizing this meeting to support the development of digital infrastructure. We will continue to enhance our cooperation in the digital field in the future, I believe it will be one of Indonesia's G20 Presidency legacies," he said.
