Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The third G20 Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) meeting is currently taking place in Labuan Bajo. This meeting is considered to encourage G20 member countries to invest in developing future metaverse technologies in the country.

This was conveyed directly by the Overseas Business Director and Government Relations of WIR Group, Yasha Chatab. According to him, with this opportunity, there will be many Indonesian companies engaged in metaverse technology that can get funding support from investors. After that, the development of the technology can be carried out in various corners of the country.

"It is hoped that this will encourage G20 countries to invest," he said, quoted from a press release, Thursday (21/7/2022).

With the support from investors, Yasha believes that metaverse can be immediately adapted by various sectors in the country to facilitate community activities in every aspect of life.

Yasha continues, telecommunication network infrastructure in Indonesia strongly supports the implementation of metaverse technology. That way, the synergy of other factors that affect the development of metaverse technology can be carried out simultaneously. Such as hardware necessity.

In addition, the development of metaverse future technologies in the country is considered to be trend in the next decade.

"In supporting this, real steps are needed in the development of the metaverse technology sector in the near future. Thus, the pillars of metaverse technology development can be more solid when the technology is widely used by the community," he explained.

During the meeting, WIR Group showcased metaverse virtual reality and augmented reality technologies. The delegates were able to experience two metaverse technology created by the nation's children, which have been known worldwide in various countries.

The third meeting of the G20 Digital Economy Working Group led by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics was attended by 20 countries. A total of 17 delegates were physically present at the Meruorah Hotel, Labuan Bajo, and 3 other delegates attended virtually.
