Operasi tersebut berlangsung sejak awal September dan berujung pada penangkapan lebih dari 2.000 orang dari dalam kawasan yang selama ini dikenal sebagai pusat kejahatan siber lintas negara. Menurut laporan harian pemerintah Myanma Alinn, operasi ini merupakan bagian dari upaya sistematis untuk menumpas jaringan penipuan daring internasional yang menipu ribuan korban di seluruh dunia. Militer mulai menyisir kompleks tersebut setelah mendapat laporan intelijen terkait aktivitas mencurigakan di kawasan perbatasan Myawaddy, Negara Bagian Kayin.
