G20 Bali Leaders Declaration Agreed by All, Including Russia
Badung, CNBC Indonesia - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) emphasized that the G20 Summit is an economic forum, not a political one. This is also the reason for the agreement of the G20 nations' leaders entitled G20 Bali Leaders Declaration.
"The G20 is an economic forum, a financial forum, a development forum, not a political forum. So don't be drawn into politics," Jokowi said in a press conference after closing the G20 Summit, Nusa Dua, Bali, Wednesday (16/11/2022).
Jokowi realized that many people doubted that the Indonesian Presidency would produce an agreement. Moreover, it took place amid geopolitical tensions in many countries.
However, discussions in the last two days have been optimized to produce an agreement contained in 52 paragraphs. The most difficult thing to discuss was the Ukraine war.
"Indonesia's leadership succeeded in producing the G20 leaders' declaration, the G20 Bali Leaders' Declaration, which was initially doubted by many parties. The declaration consists of 52 paragraphs," he said.
"A very contentious paragraph is the response to the Ukraine war," Jokowi explained.
Russia was also present at the meeting, represented by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. "There were Russian representatives present at the summit at that time. Although it was tough, it was ratified," he concluded.
