Sementara itu, kesepakatan ini bukanlah kesepakatan pertahanan pertama yang dilakukan Indonesia dengan Korsel. Sebelumnya dalam lawatan Menteri Pertahanan (Menhan) RI Prabowo Subianto ke Negeri Ginseng April lalu, RI juga sepakat untuk melanjutkan pengembangan jet tempur KF-X dan IF-X.
